A good interior finish begins with the surface
New color gets the attention, but the surface underneath shapes the finished room. Existing paint, wall repairs, trim condition, light, and sheen can all affect the plan.
We look at the full space before painting begins. That includes the areas being painted and the nearby surfaces that need protection.
Interior surfaces we can plan together
Walls and ceilings form the main field of a room. Trim, doors, and built-ins create the edges people notice. We can build the scope around one room or several connected spaces.
Common interior painting projects include:
- walls and ceilings;
- baseboards, crown molding, and window trim;
- doors and door frames;
- built-ins and detailed architectural features;
- rooms that need minor wall repairs before paint.
If wall damage is part of the project, review our drywall repair service. Kitchen projects may also benefit from cabinet refinishing.
Protecting a lived-in home
Furniture, flooring, fixtures, and access all matter during an interior project. We discuss what stays in the room, what should move, and how the work area will be protected.
Good preparation should support both the finish and the way the household uses the space.
Choosing color and sheen
Natural light changes throughout the day. Busy rooms also handle more contact and cleaning than bedrooms or low-traffic spaces.
We consider the room, the existing finish, and the surfaces being painted before the final choices are made.

Interior painting questions
Should trim and walls use the same finish?
Not always. The right choice depends on the look, wear, and cleaning needs of each surface.
Can repairs be included before painting?
Yes. We define the repair scope after checking the wall and the surrounding finish.
Do I need to choose a color before requesting an estimate?
No. It helps to know the direction you want, but the first conversation can start earlier.
Can you paint a dark ceiling or other high-contrast finish?
Yes, when it fits the room and surface. High-contrast work makes preparation and clean edges especially important.
Preparation in detail
Built-ins, brick, and the room around them
We masked the floor, fireplace, built-ins, and openings before painting. The light walls and white built-ins now sit cleanly beside the brick and dark floor.

Ceiling project
A basement prepared from floor to wall
We wrapped the walls, floor, trim, and furnishings before painting the open ceiling black. The dark ceiling now gives the light walls and existing trim stronger contrast.
